Story Telling Bee
Students from Wilkinson Public School shared fictional and non-fictional tales to groups of their peers and families at their 1st Annual Story Telling Bee.
Since January, students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 at Wilkinson had gathered stories from home and their extended families to share with other students. With the permission of tellers, the students shared their stories and also contributed them to a book, which will be published later this year. This book will contain a story from every student and staff member in the school.
The Telling Bee is an entire school celebration of culture, family heritage and traditions. Students mostly recited stories depicting certain events that have impacted their families from generation to generation.
Storyteller, Dan Yashinsky helped start the Story Telling Bee program at Wilkinson when he visited the school earlier this year to share some of his own stories. You can find out more about the Telling Bee at http://www.tellery.com.
