Danforth CTI's "Cuts for Cancer"
These are some great ones of the kids. We raised over $2000, and 12 people shaved their heads and 11 long locks were donated that lunch hour. Marca College was there to help us cut the hair and Henna Heals was putting henna crowns and henna art on participants.
Danforth Collegiate and Technical Institute (CTI) had their first annual “Cuts for Cancer” fundraising event on March 27th. The school’s staff and students collected pledges in order to cut 8”-12” off their hair and donate it to Angel Hair for Kids, Hair for Kids Program and Pantene Beautiful Lengths to make wigs for cancer patients. Other staff and students shaved their heads to raise awareness about the cause and to build upon the social and empathetic skills of students for awareness of others in need. Marca College was there to help cut the hair and Henna Heals designed henna crowns and henna art on participants.
“This is Danforth CTI’s first-ever “Cuts for Cancer” event” said teacher and staff advisor Jessica Chan. “We’ve had so much interest and support from our students and staff, which really highlights what a caring and proactive school we have.”
Half of the proceeds will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society and the other half will support the family of a long-time staff member, Ms. Love, who recently lost her battle with cancer. She was an inspiration to many of her students and is thoroughly missed.
