Little Stanley Cup Day
The East York Hockey Association celebrated the last day of House League Hockey as all teams in all the divisions played for year-end trophies, including the pewee division, where the Detroit Red Wings faced off against the Philadelphia Flyers for the Little Stanley Cup. Local councillors and politicians, as well as a throng of spectators and fans were on hand to cheer the two teams on in what was a very close matched game. The Flyers pulled away in the third period to upstage the Wings in a 3-2 final. Afterwards, the pewee team was presented with the Little Stanley Cup and celebrated by skating a few laps with the trophy.
