Alzheimer Society of Toronto's 2012 Manulife Walk for Memories
The Alzheimer Society of Toronto held their 22nd annual Manulife Walk for Memories. The goal was to raise $600,000 so the Society can continue to provide counseling, education and information to individuals and families in Toronto living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. The funds raised will also help to provide more education sessions to raise public awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, continuation of dementia care training courses for frontline healthcare workers, as well as fund research to find the cause and cure.
This unique fundraising event attracted over 1,200 spouses and other close relatives of all ages, caregivers, friends, and corporate teams. Many participants brought a photo and story about their loved ones to post on the Wall of Memories at the event.
Participate in a fundraising walk in January? Hard to imagine during Toronto’s winter – except that this was a 45-minute indoor walk through the underground PATH system in downtown Toronto, beginning & ending at Brookfield Place.
