Crescent Town Students' Artwork Featured at Harbourfront Gallery

Crescent Town Elementary School students recently showcased their artwork at the Harbourfront Gallery. Students in Erika Lloyd’s Grade 5 class worked on a unit that focused on social justice, and as part of the unit they produced a mixed media fabric art project. Students learned about several of the Ancient African kingdoms, as well as about the African Slave trade and the history of colonialism. The project was made possible due to a grant they received from Arts For Children and Youth (AFCY), whose mission is to ally with high priority communities and empower marginalized children and youth by engaging them in hands-on, community and school-based arts education programs.
