Balmy Beach School's grade 4 students from Mr. Lipsett's class ventured out to Ivan Forest (Glen Manor and Queen St. E.) to clean the park up for Earth Day.
This ecstatic group of kids combed through the park picking up waste, recyclables and, believe it or not, a filing cabinet. The students collected seven bags of garbage in just half an hour of work. What first appeared to be a spotless park, actually turned out to have garbage hidden all over its grounds.
Thanks to the students at Balmy Beach School for taking the initiative to clean the park for Earth Day. It would be a wonderful show of respect to them and to the Earth if next year, the park remained spotless.
