2008 May > The night the lights went out at The Feathers

On March 29 the Management, staff and patrons of The Feathers Victorian restaurant and pub in the Beach, participated in Earth Hour from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. by turning out the lights. As Patrons dined by candlelight, live acoustic music was provided by Lone Stars. The turnout for the event was huge and lively although too dark to take photos of. There was an obvious spirit of comradery in people coming together to share in the cause. People were having such a great time with the lights off, they booed when the lights were turned on. The organizers of the event said, "We realize that candles are not carbon foot-print free, and that turning off electric lights for an hour is but a gesture towards the much more that needs to be done to improve the health of our planet. The Feathers and their customers should take pride in the fact they are one of the first businesses to acknowledge this event. Feathers is located at 962 Kingston Road.
