2008 May > Irish Ceilidh at Calvery Baptist

Friends gathered at Calvery Baptist Chruch for an old- fashioned, Irish Ceilidh. Irish Ceilidh is the traditional Gaelic social dance in Ireland, Scotland and Atlantic Canada. This style of dancing is suitable for most ages and is comparable to folk, or square dancing. Dancers took centre stage in the "Set" a general format of ceilidh dancing. A Set consists of four couples, with each pair of couples facing another in a square or rectangular formation, while all the time keeping in step with the beat of the music. Children also flocked the dance floor, exchanging in sets as well as other various styles of dance! Calvery Baptist Chruch is located at 72 Main St.
