2008 May > 21st Annual Spring Sprint
It was the warmest Spring Sprint ever! according to organizers of the 21st Annual Beaches Spring Sprint. Saturday April 5th over 600 participants of all ages started the 5 and 2 kilometre runs along the boardwalk at the bidding of the MC, the self proclaimed, "Goof on the roof". The energy at the start finish line was infectious and the comaradery commendable.
Top time for the 5k event was put in by Luke Irwin at 15:27, and the top woman's time was 18:18 by Vanessa Piacenti. After the mad dash to the finish line runners proceeded to the Balmy Beach Club to collect their hardware, relax, get a massage and eat some great hamburgers. Entrance fees collected from all the enthusiastic competitors will be donated to the Beaches Recreation Centre located at 6 Williamson Road .
